Overview

To perform all essential functions of the Payroll Specialist successfully, an individual must be able to meet or exceed the duties listed below, to assist employees and the corporate staff, and to possess a sense of urgency and confidentiality. The other requirements & duties as listed below are representative of the minimum essential knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job.

 

  • Analyze, prepare and input payroll data utilizing the Workday system for multi-state employers and or OSV.
  • Produce accurate and timely payroll and maintain current knowledge of applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports as needed. (i.e. gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions etc.).
  • Responds to employee payroll issues & inquiries in timely manner, and enforces all corporate payroll policies.
  • Responsible for the processing and compliance of wage garnishments and payroll or benefit deductions.
  • Conducts employment verifications and/or reference checks as requested related to payroll
  • Maintain and updates quarterly employee headcount & other payroll reports.
  • Coordinates staff training events and programs and recommend resources, as needed related to payroll
  • Must possess excellent customer and employee “service” mentality.
  • All other duties / responsibilities as assigned

ADDITIONAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree in Finance or accounting related field preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills such as MS Word, Excel, Access & Internet Explorer.
  • Must possess excellent attention to detail.
  • Professionalism, intelligence and sense of urgency are required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and the ability to achieve detailed and accurate results under pressure.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • STRONG in the Workday/OSV Payroll systems
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines.

EDUCATION: An Associate’s in Business Administration or equivalent experience is required.

EXPERIENCE: This position requires a minimum of: 3 years of payroll experience.

COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge of computers, including e-mail and word processing abilities, and Workday.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
